Terms of Use

By using this website and the Piscatorium mobile app you accept the terms below. If you do not accept them, you should not use the service.

1. Parties and definitions

These Terms of Use (the “Agreement”) are made between the service owner identified above (“Piscatorium”) and the natural person who uses the website or the mobile app (the “User”).

• Service: the Piscatorium website and mobile app and every function offered through them.
• Account: the membership the User obtains by registering.
• Content: the catch logs, photos, comments and profile information the User shares.
• Pro membership: the paid subscription sold through the mobile app stores or on the website.

2. Subject of the Agreement

The subject of this Agreement is to set out the conditions under which the User may benefit from and use the Service.

3. Scope of the service

Piscatorium is a website and mobile app published to inform about weather and sea conditions, fishing spots, fish species and recreational fishing regulations. The information is compiled from public sources and reviewed by hand. By opening an account you can keep a catch log, share your records and use the community features.

4. Limitation of liability — read before going out to sea

This site must not be used for navigation.

The depth data on the map comes from EMODnet’s grid of roughly 230 metres; it shows the deeper basins offshore, not the seabed close to the shore. It does not replace official nautical charts (SHOD). Do not plan your route using this site.

• Weather and sea data are forecasts. They may differ from actual conditions; the age of the data is shown in the interface.
• Fishing spots, species information and season data are guidance; they do not guarantee a result.
• The decision to go out to sea and its consequences are entirely the User’s responsibility.

The Service is provided “as is”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, no liability is accepted for indirect damage arising from use of the Service. This limitation does not cover intent or gross negligence.

5. Regulatory information

Legal size, closed season and prohibited area information is taken from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s communiqué on recreational fishing. The texts are not summarised; every record shows its basis in the communiqué and a link to the official source.

In regions outside Türkiye, the country’s own legislation applies and its source is shown in the same way.

Even so, transcription errors are possible. The official publication is binding. Reporting an error to us is the fastest way to get it fixed. Complying with fishing rules is the User’s own responsibility.

6. Account

• You must give accurate, complete and up-to-date information when opening an account. No verification link is sent to your email address; you are responsible for the address being correct.
• You are responsible for the security of your account and your password. You may not share your password with third parties.
• You may not open several accounts to influence community counters such as likes, follows and rankings in a misleading way.
• You can delete your account at any time from the account screen in the app; this cannot be undone.
• Your account may be closed if it is used in breach of these terms or the law.

7. Age limit

To open an account and share content you must be over 18 or have the consent of your parent or guardian. Age is not technically verified; this rule relies on your declaration.

8. Content you share

Your catch logs, photos, comments and profile information belong to you. By sharing them you grant only the right of use needed to provide the service: to store the content, to process it and to publish it with the visibility you choose. Your content is not sold and is not transferred to another product. This right ends when you delete your content.

You are responsible for the content you share. You may not share:

• Images or text belonging to someone else and used without permission
• Insults, threats, hate speech or harassment
• Misleading catch information, fake locations or made-up records
• Content showing or encouraging the capture of protected species
• Advertising, spam and chain messages
• Content disclosing another person’s identity or private information

The privacy of your fishing spot is in your hands. For every catch record you choose how visible your location is; the default is hidden. Keep in mind that a spot you share can be used by others.

9. Moderation and reporting

In the app you can report any catch record, comment or user. Reports are reviewed by a person; there is no automatic filter or automatic removal. Reported content may stay published until the review is complete.

After review, content may be removed, the user may be warned or the account may be closed. You can also block any user; blocking stops interaction in both directions.

10. Pricing, subscription and advertising

The map, fishing spots, species information, regulations and the catch log are free.

Pro membership is a paid subscription that unlocks extra features. It can be bought in two ways: in the mobile app, through the store you downloaded the app from (App Store or Google Play); or on the website, on the Pro membership page. Either way the subscription is linked to your account and unlocks the same features. The rules of the subscription:

• Unless you cancel it, the subscription renews automatically at the end of each period. When you cancel, Pro stays on until the end of the period you paid for.
• Prices may change with prior notice; a change does not affect the current period.
• Your card details never reach us.

Purchases through an app store

Payment, cancellation and refunds run through the store’s own system, rules and screens; we cannot process refunds.

Purchases on the website

Our order process on the website is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our web orders: it takes the payment, issues the invoice, collects the tax and handles customer service inquiries about orders, payments and refunds. Purchases made on the website are subject to Paddle’s Buyer Terms. You can manage and cancel your subscription from the link in the email Paddle sends you; the refund terms are set out on the Refund Policy page.

In the free tier, ads are shown in the mobile app. Ads are not personalised. No ads are shown with Pro membership.

Apart from Pro membership, there is no sale, cart or payment on the site. When tackle shop storefronts open, products are listed as a storefront only; the purchase is completed in the shop.

11. Commercial electronic messages

If you join the waiting list or give separate consent, commercial electronic messages containing promotions and announcements may be sent under Law No. 6563 on the Regulation of Electronic Commerce. You have the right not to give this consent or to withdraw it at any time; you can use the unsubscribe link in the messages or write to the contact address. Transactional and security notifications about your account are not commercial messages and continue to be sent regardless of consent.

12. User obligations

• Not to use the Service for any purpose that breaches applicable law.
• Not to collect data in bulk with automated tools, not to use scraping software, not to disrupt the service and not to place a disproportionate load on the servers.
• Not to reverse engineer the Service’s software and not to attempt unauthorised access.
• Not to enter someone else’s email address for the waiting list or an account.
• Not to request information aimed at catching protected species — this information is never shown on the site.

13. Intellectual property

The texts, design, software and compiled dataset on the site belong to the service owner. They may not be copied without permission or used for commercial purposes. Content shared by users is not covered by this; that content belongs to its owners.

The rights to third-party sources belong to their owners:

• Basemap: Esri World Imagery and OpenStreetMap contributors. The attributions stay visible on the map — this is a licence requirement.
• Sea depth: EMODnet Bathymetry.
• Weather and sea data: Open-Meteo.
• Species images: the source and licence are written below each image; most are Creative Commons with attribution.

If you believe your copyright has been infringed, notify the contact address; the notice is reviewed and, if justified, the content is removed.

14. Third-party links

The site links to official institution pages and external sources. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those pages.

15. Continuity of the service

Interruptions, maintenance and feature changes may occur; if a feature is removed we try to announce it in advance. Measures are taken against data loss, but uninterrupted and loss-free operation cannot be guaranteed.

16. Protection of personal data

Which data is collected, for what purpose it is processed and what your rights are is explained in the Privacy Policy and the KVKK Privacy Notice. These two texts form an integral part of this Agreement.

17. Termination

The User can end the Agreement at any time by deleting their account. If these terms are breached, the service owner may suspend the account or terminate the Agreement. On termination, what happens to personal data is as described in the Privacy Policy.

18. Changes

These terms may be updated from time to time. The current text is always published at this address; continuing to use the service means you accept the current version. For important changes, you may be informed in the app and asked to consent again.

19. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye. The courts and enforcement offices of the Republic of Türkiye have jurisdiction over disputes. Users who are consumers retain the right to apply to the consumer arbitration committees and consumer courts where they live.

20. Entry into force and languages

The Agreement enters into force when the User accepts the terms during registration and remains in force until the account is deleted.

Versions of this text in other languages are provided for convenience only. In case of a conflict between a translation and the Turkish text, the Turkish text prevails.
